Description
The Fontaine FBW465 is a practically engineered Bb cornet designed to deliver consistent intonation and structural durability. Built around a clear lacquered yellow brass body, this instrument provides a traditional, resonant brass tone suitable for various ensemble settings.
The design incorporates yellow brass for both the lead and tuning pipes, ensuring steady airflow and resistance to corrosion in critical moisture zones.
At the core of the horn, nickel-plated pistons offer a reliable, smooth valve action for developing players. With a 125mm bell diameter and an 11.5mm bore, the FBW465 projects a focused, balanced sound profile that blends well in brass bands or orchestral sections.
This cornet is tailored for student musicians, school band programs, and advancing players requiring a mechanically sound and tonally balanced instrument. It serves as an excellent foundational brass piece for regular rehearsal, lessons, and standard performance applications.
Key Features:
Materials & Construction
The instrument features a full yellow brass body finished in clear lacquer. This construction yields a warm, standard brass resonance while the clear coat protects the raw metal from tarnishing during regular handling.
Acoustic Dimensions
Engineered with a 125mm bell diameter and an 11.5mm bore size. These precise acoustic dimensions provide a moderate level of back-pressure for controlled sound production and clear projection across registers.
Valves & Mechanics
The valve block utilizes nickel-plated pistons. Nickel plating hardens the piston surface, reducing friction for faster valve response and increasing long-term resistance to wear and structural degradation.
Inclusions & Practical Workflow
A mouthpiece is included and fitted directly into the lead pipe. The instrument is housed in a black ABS case featuring a plush-lined interior, providing rigid impact protection during transit.
