Description
Make a bold statement on stage with the 2022 edition of the Orange O Bass in the company’s iconic, head-turning Orange finish. Bringing back the undeniable retro charm and thunderous tone of the original 2015 model, this updated version features refined playability and elevated aesthetics for the modern player.
Crafted from lightweight West African Okoumé, this single-cutaway bass provides incredible acoustic resonance and perfectly balanced ergonomics. The magic of the O Bass lies in its custom-wound split-coil humbucker, placed slightly closer to the neck than standard designs. This strategic positioning delivers a deeply resonant, fat growl that effortlessly shifts from warm Motown thuds to aggressive, harmonic-rich rock tones using just the passive tone knob.
The 2022 upgrades include sleek black binding around the instrument and a matching black headstock that creates a stunning visual contrast against the vibrant orange body. Complete with a bolt-on maple neck, a super-durable purpleheart fretboard, and an official padded Orange gig bag, this bass is built to stand out both visually and sonically.

Designed in-house
Designed in the heart of London’s West End by Orange Technical Director and lead designer Adrian Emsley, the O Bass was inspired by Emsley’s deep love and knowledge of classic gear as well as his time spent working with bass players in 1990s Los Angeles. Emsley wanted something lightweight, long-scale, and with a classic tone, and so made his dream bass accordingly.
Custom pickup positioning
After witnessing the results of a bass-player friend hand-modding his own bass while living in LA in the early 90s, Emsley realised what difference an unorthodox pickup positioning made to the tone. The O Bass replicates that modification, giving the instrument real growl, with a fatter high register to boot.
